I find that I like the theme of adultery in Balogh’s earlier books. It’s like she tries to give them a different character and ends up making them annoying instead.

Once again, ohedient masterful Mary Balogh ties the character’s behavior to their time and their station. It took time for each of them to see the great qualities of the other. There is very little real intimacy between them.
